About RTRC

How to Help

One of the goals of Rat Terrier Rescue Canada is to rehabilitate our rescued Rat Terriers to a healthy and happy state so that they can be adopted. We often rescue Rat Terriers that are in desperate need of medical care and come to us with multiple heath issues. These very special Ratties need your help to get them healthy and adoptable. Without your support, we can't continue to help these dogs. Please make it possible for these little Ratties to have the happy life that they deserve. We appreciate every donation, and all donations go directly towards the care of Ratties in need. We are a non-profit organization working towards our Charitable status in Canada.

Little Ike's Fund Rat Terrier Rescue Canada

Hi! My name is Ike, but my foster mommy and daddy call me Pepper, or Peppie for short! I am a sweet, loving and good natured little guy, and I like to say I am a young at heart senior! I hear that I am about 10 years old from my foster parents. I love to snuggle, cuddle and lounge, and adore being petted! I really love being with my people and I am so good with other doggies, cats, and I like little children too! I am very friendly and outgoing and a lovey dovey little guy.
My fosterparents say I am the best fosterkid they've ever had! I am housetrained and a really good boy. I love mealtime and my favorite food is kibbles with a dollop of mashed potato. I like car rides, walks, sunny spots to sit in, and I'm really excited to get a new bean bag bed from Auntie Ingrid, and from Auntie Ethel a set of pet steps to help me up and down from my fosterparent's bed (where incidentelly I have made myself at home and love to nap on their pillows!)
I have a sad story to tell though before I was rescued I was lost and alone in Ohio and somehow my back got hurt. No one helped me or tried to fix me so now my back really, really hurts sometimes :( I was lucky and someone found me and brought me to a shelter. The nice people at the shelter wanted to help me so they called Rat Terrier Rescue in Canada.
The kind folks in Rat Terrier Rescue and Minpinerie brought me to safety in my fosterhome, and then took me to the vet at Christie Street Animal Hospital in Pembroke, Ontario. Well the bad news is my back really does hurt but I knew that part already, I just didn't know how to tell my fosterparents what was wrong so I would cry when I tried to stand up after napping :(
But the good news is there is something that can help me! My vet took xrays and told my fosterparents that I have spine degeneration and I would need medication. My vet Dr. Bell gave me a good arthritis medication called Previcox and now I feel so much better! I need to take my medicine every day to feel better.
But now I am back to my happy self and I feel great! Would you please consider helping me to keep taking my medicine? It would mean so much to me if you might send a donation to our RTRC Treasurer to buy a month's worth of medicine for me, the folks at Rat Terrier Rescue will tell you how to help! If I get more donations than I need for my medicine I have lots of rescued friends in Rat Terrier Rescue who need help too with their vetting costs, so I will share the donations!

Thank you Glenn W. for your donations towards my care!
