Volunteering with Rat Terrier Rescue Canada
Rat Terrier Rescue Canada is run entirely by volunteers and needs your assistance to continue helping Rat Terriers in need. Our Rat Terriers often come from puppymill busts or euthanasia lists from shelters, and are in need of your help to save them.
Here are a few ways you can help:
. Volunteer to help transport a Rat from the shelter to their foster home or from their foster home to their forever home
. Volunteer to help screen adoption applications for a potential adopters of a rescued Rattie. This involves speaking to an applicant adoptive family to conduct their interviews and phoning their vet and reference checks
. Volunteer to fulfill a pre-adoption home visit for a rescued Rattie waiting to go home to a prospective family. This involves visiting the home of an applicant adoptive family after their interviews and reference checks are completed to meet the propective family in person
. Offer a permanent adoptive or temporary foster home
. Volunteer to help RTRC with administrative tasks such as fundraising or publicity
Please email our our Volunteer Coordinator if you would like to become a Rat Terrier Rescue Canada Volunteer!
Do you have room in your home for a foster dog?
If you have room in your home, you might consider fostering for us. We are always looking for new foster parents. There are times when our foster homes are so full, we can no longer accept new Ratties and have to turn some away. We desperately want to avoid being placed in a position where we cannot accept Rat Terriers and urge you to consider temporarily opening your hearts and your home to a Rattie in need of a foster home. Please go to our Fostering page for more information.
